I have a dream that Birmingham can be.

A star shining ablaze for the world to see.

Buildings, people, freedom, light

A place where wrong surrenders to the courage of what is right.

I have a dream of people taking hands

Of Bold generations willing to take a stand

I have a dream of southern charm redefined

Of Birmingham, glasses for all those that are blind

I have a dream of a better tomorrow

Of civil leaders bringing joy where there was once sorrow

I have a dream of girls being women

A place where the past is the past and all is forgiven.

 

I have a dream of a wondrous place

Where the privilege is only a smile and never a race

I have a dream of heaven on earth

A place where guidance mirrors the beauty of all self-worth

I have a hope of a dream where I find all minds  reminiscing

Where women become wed daily
